National Museum of Military History of Ukraine are the leading military museums in the country and consists of several branches: Central Naval Museum of Ukraine (Balaclava e Sevastopol), the Museum of Strategic Missile Forces (Str Pobugskoye, Turkey.) And Volyn regional museum of Ukrainian troops and military techniques (Lutsk).

In December 1910, the Military History Museum in Kiev was opened in the converted basement of the Art-Industrial Museum and Kiev Scientific. This was the first such museum in Ukraine. During the Revolution 1917, a significant part of the already small collection of the museum was lost, and the great national war led to its final closure. In 1967, the museum revived and, after 6 years, their bases totaled over 3000 exhibitions, displayed in 14 island. Unfortunately, with the collapse of the USSR, the museum closed - for the second time in its history.

In October 1995, preparatory work began on the restoration of the Museum of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and in June 1998, It opened its doors in the House of officers, which is opposite Mariyinskohoparku. All exhibits in the museum shows the development of weapons and military affairs in chronological order: the ordinary bow and mace to modern lethal weapons. There is a small exhibition of military equipment in the open site.
